Great Expectations, and a Promise!

If I didn’t know better, I’d think my forsythia was doomed to die soon! The leaves are going dark and falling to the ground. The cold, dark winter lies before us.

Light

Jesus came to be the Light of the world, and then He told his followers that they, too, were the light of the world. If you are a follower of Christ, let his message richly fill your life, and shine brightly for the world to see!

Great Expectation #4

These deep burgundy leaves won’t be long on the forsythia. They’ll soon be finding their way to the ground below as autumn sunlight hours give way to winter.

Just as we know what to expect from the deciduous trees and shrubs around us as the season draws to a close, so we should know what to expect from ourselves and other followers of Christ!

Great Expectation #2

My forsythia follows a pattern each year, and I know what to expect from it. Soon the branches will be bare as the leaves float to the earth below.

Just as I know what to expect from my forsythia bushes, there are things we should expect to see in the lives of those who follow Christ. That’s what this discussion is about!

Great Expectations

Our yard is surrounded by forsythia bushes. During the busy summer tourist season, their leafy branches form part of the sound barrier between our house and the main road out front.

But soon those branches will be bare. How do I know? They’re telling me themselves!
