Spiritual growth is not a suggestion, but instead something we are called to actively participate in. Peter writes, “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen” (1 Peter 3:18 ESV). Followers of Jesus need spiritual disciplines and exercises in their lives in order to grow toward maturity.
