I got a message that my Google storage was almost full, so I started decluttering my files. Photos, documents, emails . . . I got rid of hundreds of files. But I was still using over two-thirds of my free space! What on earth was I missing??
It took me a while, but I found it. I had literally thousands of emails stacked up under both the social and promotional tags that I never even laid eyes on, much less deleted. And then there’s the trash can and the spam folder. All of it counts! It all takes up space, whether I see it or not.
God’s “Hidden” Messages
We can categorize our lives much the same way, with “IMPORTANT NOW“, “Important Later“, and “We’ll See, Maybe, Eventually.”
Where does God fit in your life? Which category do you file Him under?
Try as you may, you’ll never be able to delete His messages to your heart. You may try to drown them out and fill up your heart space with other things, but eventually they’ll come to the surface again.
You’ll see a spectacular sunset or the minute details of a delicate flower. You’ll watch a mother caring for her young, or a stubborn tree reaching for the sun in the unlikeliest of places. You’ll see the vast expanse of a starry sky or an army of ants working together to store away food for the colony.
God’s handiwork surrounds us, speaking to us even when we’re not paying attention. The messages are there, hidden in plain sight!
For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.
Romans 1:20 NLT
Our Creator is powerful, yet at the same time He is a gentle provider. He works in the cosmos and in the minutiae.
I challenge you today to look and listen. Take time to be still in the creation surrounding you.
