Guess: Five Minute Friday Prompt

Let’s play a game.

Guess how many splendiferous gray hairs I have today!

If you guess wrong, don’t worry. I’m not going to follow up to count them. I’m afraid that would take a few weeks, at least.

But I know Someone who knows the exact number today, and tomorrow after a few hairs leave for places unknown, and the next day . . .

That Someone made me, and has his eyes on me.

“What is the price of five sparrows—two copper coins? Yet God does not forget a single one of them. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.”

Jesus, in Luke 12: 6-7 NLT

Can you imagine the power to simply know at this very moment how many hairs are on top of my head along with everyone else’s head around the world? We don’t even know the exact number of people, much less how many hairs each one wears each day!

He doesn’t only count hairs.

He counts the stars and calls them all by name.

Psalm 147:4

Look up into the heavens. Who created all the stars? He brings them out like an army, one after another, calling each by its name. Because of his great power and incomparable strength, not a single one is missing.

Isaiah 40:26

He made each star and put it in place. We’re still learning about the far reaches of the universe, but he’s known all about it all along!

He knows the astronomical, and he knows the minute. Not only that, but he knows the hidden.

For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable.

Hebrews 4:12-13

There’s no use in trying to hide anything from him, because he sees it anyway!

O LORD, you have examined my heart and know everything about me.

Psalm 139:1

He doesn’t have to guess. He knows.

How do you feel knowing that the Creator of everything we know and everything we don’t yet know knows you inside and out?
