This little guy had me thinking this morning.
We’ve had his relatives nesting and raising young around our church building for years.

He’s an Old World Sparrow. Why that name? Well, I live in North America, and these guys are not from around here! They came over with travelers from Europe a couple hundred years ago.
If you live in Europe, Asia, or Africa, he may look very familiar to you, because that’s where his ancestral roots come from.
And that’s what got me thinking today. All around the world people see this same kind of bird.
All around the world people see the same sun and the same moon.
And today, all around the world, people’s eyes are looking up, praising the same Jesus.
Followers of Jesus are called by many names, and have many differences in specific doctrinal beliefs.
But we are all called to live like Jesus, shining our light in the darkness of this world as we follow his example and his command to love one another.
Some of us are Jews, some are Gentiles, some are slaves, and some are free. But we have all been baptized into one body by one Spirit, and we all share the same Spirit.
1 Corinthians 12:13
We are part of his family, no matter where we live! And one day we’ll all be gathered around his throne, singing his praises, together. What a day that will be!
It is nice to be able to look at others and see we have access to the same God, the opportunity to lift Him up in praise.
