I love watching the sky during my commutes throughout the week. Every day provides a different scene with clouds carried along by invisible air currents. Even on clear, cloudless days the sky contains different hues of blue. Continue reading Eyes on the Skies

Take a Load Off
Meet Andrew, our cat. He’d say hello, but he’s sleeping. Not a care in the world, except maybe keeping his nose warm! Now, I like my sleep, but even I think 20 hours is a bit much…
I think we need to find our inner cats, though. Continue reading Take a Load Off
Example 4
“Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith…” (1 Timothy 4:12).
I love this grove of trees. I have no idea what kind they are, but they grow like corkscrews! Never growing straight, but always growing up, reaching for the sun. Their mere height is a testament of their survival over time. Continue reading Example 4
Example 2
I love this picture. Here’s a tree that never gave up, even when the earth beneath it has been slowly washed away. The tree grows along the shore of a harbor, where stormy high tides can reach it every so often. On the other side is a trail that many people enjoy walking along. It’s got erosion coming at it from both sides, and yet it still stands, reaching high for sunlight and holding tightly with roots growing in every direction.
Paul wrote to Timothy, “Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live…” (1 Timothy 4:12).
We are called to be examples. Continue reading Example 2
Examples
Paul wrote to the Corinthians, “Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ” (1 Corinthians 11:1). Whose example are we following? Christ is our ultimate example to strive for, although we will fail in our humanity! But thank God He understands our weaknesses, and is ready to forgive our many shortcomings.
Paul also wrote to Timothy, “Set an example for the believers…” (1 Timothy 4:12). Each one of us is an example to someone, whether we like it or not. If I belong to Christ, my life is not my own (1 Corinthians 6:19). What are others seeing in me and you, as we walk out our days? I pray they see Christ.
All That Glitters
Up in the mountains of North Carolina, we camped along a rushing mountain stream. Exploring along the stream, we saw shining rocks everywhere! Of course the first thing to jump into my mind was a picture of a gold prospector from 1849 sitting alongside a mountain stream panning for gold. Here we were, in 2015, with shining rocks everywhere! We’d struck it rich!! Continue reading All That Glitters
