We have no choice in many facets of life. Take today’s weather, for example.

I did not choose it, but I love it! The temperature is even pleasant for mid-March.
I cannot choose what the grocery store has in stock this week.
I cannot choose when doctors will have openings for appointments.
I cannot choose whether birds will nest in the bushes by my house this year.
I cannot choose when my flowers will bloom.
So many things are far beyond my control, but that doesn’t leave me completely without choices!
I can choose fear or faith.
I can choose worry or trust.
I can choose agitation or peace.
I can choose frustration or patience.
I can choose offense or forgiveness.
I can choose to be rude or to be kind.
I can choose the grumps or joy, no matter my circumstances.
I can choose to further the kingdom of darkness or the kingdom of Light.
My choices make a difference in my life or the lives of those around me. May my choices (and yours) today be made in wisdom!
But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace-loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere.
James 3:17 NLT
Let’s choose wisely today, friends.
Can’t choose the rolling of the dice,
nor where the sniper’s bullet flies;
mind you that would sure be nice,
but in the end, ev’rybody dies.
Love to choose ingredients
that the pizzeria uses,
but I can’t, so best defence
is to set internal fuses
with some Guinness, pint or three,
in case they went a little heavy
on the garlic (not for me!),
but with the beer I will be steady
to make it to our borrowed truck
before the noisy fun upchuck.
