We have two large catmint plants in our front flower bed, keeping the neighborhood bees busy and happy. We’ve even had hummingbirds visit from time to time. The flowers grow in groups along a tall stem, as you can see in this second picture below. Continue reading Disappointed?

There’s a Storm Comin’!
One recent day when I took this picture, the sky was a very close mirror to my heart. Our family is facing a storm not unlike one we passed through last year. Our youngest son is facing another surgery within the next month or so, and that was not one of our goals for 2016! Continue reading There’s a Storm Comin’!
Rock of Ages
When my daughter was very young, she had a moving sand art picture. A picture frame held blue water with different hues of blue sand, and when the frame was tipped over, the sand would fall to the new bottom and create a different landscape. I think I played with it more than she did!
Our lives can often feel like that picture frame. Continue reading Rock of Ages
Example 2
I love this picture. Here’s a tree that never gave up, even when the earth beneath it has been slowly washed away. The tree grows along the shore of a harbor, where stormy high tides can reach it every so often. On the other side is a trail that many people enjoy walking along. It’s got erosion coming at it from both sides, and yet it still stands, reaching high for sunlight and holding tightly with roots growing in every direction.
Paul wrote to Timothy, “Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live…” (1 Timothy 4:12).
We are called to be examples. Continue reading Example 2
Breaking Rocks
I’d love to know this boulder’s story. How did it come to be home to so many different types of living green things? I can see moss, grass, weeds, and what looks like it might even be a baby mountain laurel over to the right. The smoother boulder in the foreground seems pretty boring in comparison, with just a bit of moss clinging to it. Continue reading Breaking Rocks
Who Am I?
My youngest son is recovering from his surgery quickly, astounding the doctors and nurses. This picture is obviously not from the past few days, as his head was shaved for the procedure, but I wanted you to see just how handsome he is!
As mothers, we never want to see our children in pain, trouble, or difficult circumstances. We would much rather take those problems on ourselves than watch our children struggle through them. Continue reading Who Am I?
