The flowers of spring are a great reminder that even in the darkest, coldest winter we have hope of brighter days ahead. God is faithful!
Ever wonder why evergreen trees seem to lose needles in the fall along with deciduous trees? I thought they were supposed to stay “ever green!” But after strong winds and rain overnight, my driveway was covered in pine needles and oak leaves. The needles aren’t green, either! What’s going on? Continue reading Dropping Time
As I sat by the mountain stream that morning enjoying the serenity of the moment, I thought about the mist. It’s only there in the morning, until the sun warms the air and the water vapor disappears. It’s a beautiful sight, but you have to catch it at just the right time, or you’ll miss it! Continue reading Morning Mist
On our trip south this past summer, my husband and two of our children hiked up Mount Mitchell, the tallest peak east of the Mississippi. I drove up with our third to “rescue” them from the top! Once you’ve driven as far as you can, there is still a short hike to reach the summit. I took this picture from the top of Mount Mitchell, looking at one of the nearby peaks as the clouds were rolling in. You can barely even see the green leaves under all of those flowers packed in together! It reminds me of the verse that says, “Love covers over a multitude of sins” (1 Peter 4:8). Continue reading You’re My Favorite!
What do you see? Come a little closer!
Hmmm…more than moss and bricks….come a little closer!
Do you see the beauty now? The mossy brick walkway creates a charming view, but there’s much more to be discovered the closer you get. The details are striking!
As I sit in the hospital waiting for news from the surgeon operating on my son, I am reminded of the verse that says, “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you” (James 4:8). Coming closer to God opens my eyes to more of who He is, and calms my heart to trust him with my circumstances. I am so thankful for His calming presence right now!
Are you facing a daunting situation? It is not insurmountable for God, nor has it taken Him by surprise. He is fully capable of carrying you through it. He has promised, “Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5).
You are never alone! Come a little closer….
