So this thing fell out of a tree and onto our yard a few weeks ago. My husband and I couldn’t agree about what it was. I was positive it must be some type of moss, and he was just as certain that it was a type of lichen. So, thanks to Google, the point goes to…my dear husband!
I know you’re simply dying to know now, so I’ll enlighten you. Continue reading What is That?
The wild black raspberries growing in our backyard don’t need any help from us. They’re quite independent, spreading out a bit more and producing a slightly larger crop every year. This year we may get enough to try a jam recipe!
The thing is, the berries aren’t all ready for picking at the same time. Some are black and juicy, some smaller and bright red, and some are smaller still, mostly green with barely a hint of red showing. Continue reading Crop Development
I know you’re wondering what snails have to do with running. Let me tell you about these cute, little, harmless-looking moon snails. Maybe cool, but I think they’ve lost the “cute” factor for me! Continue reading Run!
What do you think of when you hear the word “majesty”?
I think of the line “for purple mountain majesties” from America the Beautiful written by Katherine Lee Bates. Thank you to my friend, Luke Eskelund, who posted this picture while traveling in Norway last week! Now that is a majestic scene!
I also think eagles soaring high above us on thermals are majestic.
Have you come up with anything else paired with “majestic”? Continue reading Fearfully Majestic
Last year, my husband decided he wanted to expand his garden. To increase the area receiving direct sunshine, he hired someone to cut down four trees beside our house. This is what all four of them looked like last year. They’re all still out there, taller than I am! But they don’t all look like this anymore. One of them has kept right on growing–maybe not up, but out! I decided to be adventurous and climb on top of it, and show you just how green it is. Continue reading Keep Growing!
Just look at the cute little cherry tomato blossoms, promising nice, juicy additions to my salad bowl in a few weeks. Wait a second, what’s that I see down below?? Continue reading Lose Those Suckers!
